Welcome to L.I.F.T (THIS SITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
The Lucas Izzard Foundation for Teens (LIFT) is facilitating an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) class this week on Friday & Saturday in Cedarville, and there are a few openings left. This training program has been taken by almost one million caregivers and individuals, and is the most widely used suicide intervention training program in the world.
We are very fortunate to be able offer this training at Les Cheneaux Community Schools, and to have two trainers willing to travel from Ann Arbor and Saginaw to conduct the class.
This class will be followed up by a safeTALK T4T gatekeeper teacher training to be held on August 25th & 26th at the same location. The ASIST training is a prerequisite for taking the safeTALK class.
Most of the costs for both of these trainings are being covered by a $10,000 grant LIFT received from the Michigan Dept of Community Health through SAMSA and a Garrett Lee Smith Youth Suicide Prevention Grant. We hope you will be able to attend these classes, and encourage you to share this information with others that may find this training to be of interest.
The attached registration form has further contact information, and the ASIST Invitation has web links with further information about the content of these classes.
Lucas Mark Izzard will be remembered as a loving son, a grandson, a brother, a boyfriend, a good friend and a part of our community. He graduated in 2006 from Les Cheneaux Community Schools and was a part of the schools football teams 10-0 undefeated season (which was the first time in the schools history). He also spent time hunting and fishing.
Lucas enjoyed his outdoor activities, especially the ones that involved speed, like his snowmobile, or motor cycle and working on his car.
He loved his family, his friends, his community, and his school. Lucas M. Izzard was 19 at the time of his death. We will miss his mischievous antics, his infectious grin as well as his kind presence. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed.
